Declined Claims Information

Please forward all declined pay to be handled at a Claims Conference to President & Vice Local Chairman WS Link.

Claims may be submitted by leaving them at any of the following locations:

  • Linwood Tower - Conductor’s Room 2nd Floor, L Mailbox
  • Linwood Duke Shanty - Locker #12
  • Linwood Engineer’s Washroom - Locker #3

You may also mail your claims to:

Please ensure you supply the following information (at minimum) to ensure your claim is processed as soon as possible:

  • Copy of your time slip (aka tie up screen or ticket)
  • Copy of your employee remarks (even if there are no remarks, print this screen)
  • Copy of your detailed earnings or payroll history (showing what you have or have not been paid)
  • Copy of your declination remarks, even if they are blank.

BLET Division 375 will notify you via letter or email when your claim is handled at a Claims Conference. The notice will contain the date your claim was declined or paid, when the claim was transmitted to payroll for payment, and when you should expect to receive payment from payroll.

Contacting Payroll via NS Memo System: PayHelp

Some payroll issues (such as those appearing in your pending pay) can be resolved by sending a memo to PAYHELP.  Be sure to include your Social Security Number, and NS Employee ID Number in the body of the message. The subject line of your memo should contain PIEA or PILI, which will allow the system to route your memo to the appropriate timekeeper (payroll clerk.) Failure to include either PIEA or PILI in your subject line will route your memo to a general mailbox, where it will be manually sorted for processing, adding delay to a response from payroll.

All dues will be deducted from your paycheck on the first half by NS payroll.  BLE&T members who have AFLAC insurance through Division 375 will have these premiums deducted on the same pay half as your union dues. These dates are highlighted in yellow in the above table.

All health & welfare insurance premiums & disability premiums will be deducted from your paycheck on the second half by NS payroll. These dates are highlighted in green in the above table.
